On Saturday, October 4th from 8am until noon the Eastern Panhandle Conservation District will be co-sponsoring a Chainsaw Safety and Forest Health Workshop, along with the help of the Chesapeake Bay Program. This workshop will cover general chainsaw safety and maintenance. Instructor Rex Arnett will then inform the group and demonstrate the proper technique to fell a tree. This will lead into discussion on forest health and proper management for our forestland in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed.
Participants must bring their own functioning chainsaw and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including: hardhat, ear and eye protection, boots, gloves, and jeans (preferably leather chaps or ballistic nylon pads). This workshop is FREE, however, pre-registration is required by October 1, 2014. Only 15 spaces are available so register today to secure your spot! Attendance certificates will be awarded at the end of the workshop. Very light morning refreshments will be available.
